The SAM9M10 is the newest member of Atmel’s ARM926-based embedded MPU

The SAM9M10 is an ARM926-based embedded MPU integrating a high-performance video decoder, 2D accelerator and DDR2 support, targeted at media-rich display and control panels in cost-sensitive industrial applications.

The video decoder plays resolutions up to D1 (720x576) or WVGA (800x480) at 30fps and supports multiple formats, H264, H263, MPEG4, MPEG2, VC1, and JPEG.
The 2D accelerator offers image scaling and rotation, color space conversion and picture-in-picture capability.
Overall, the SAM9M10 provides a high-quality visual experience for the user while preserving the full processing power of the central processing unit for the application.

The SAM9M10-EK provides a fully-featured evaluation board delivered with free Linux® distribution and Microsoft® Windows® Embedded CE board support packages (BSP) with video support via GStreamer and Directshow, and is an ideal a platform to test the device’s multimedia capabilities.
