I already tried that, but got weird compilation problems.
does anyone know where I can find config files for this build root

What exactly do you need from buildroot and where do you have a problem? I use buildroot just to get the toolchain and it works fine. For this I don't download patches from here, I download original buildroot and via menu select my processor and necessary SW components.
