I use the compiler from Code Sourcery Lite (arm-none-linux-gnueabi-) and I cross compile from a Linux PC. I use a windows version of mkimage from http://pandorawiki.org/Kernel_build_ins ... ns#mkimage

The error I get is when U-boot is booting the kernel, I see this

Uncompressing Kernel Image ... OK
Starting kernel ...

and then the board hangs (no more output).

Thanks.

The linux machine didn't have any mkimage on it, and so I had to go download one. The linux machine doesn't have internet access and so I was browsing the internet from the windows machine, so I just used the windows version.

Some other poster had mentioned I am using mkimage wrong, like I am compressing something that shouldn't be compressed. I'm all for a different version of mkimage, with instructions on how to use it.

Even if you browse on a windows machine you can download the linux version and copy it onto your linux machine.
You obviously could get files out of your linux machine.

The easiest way would be using buildroot as someone already suggested.
