Hi,
I have installed Linux Kernel 2.6.22 from Linux4SAM on my AT91SAM9260EK board . I've installed also a toolchain for cross-compiling under Windows (the toolchain is Eclipse-based) and all seems to work fine . Now I would like to debug my applications without using JTAG but using instead the GDB on TCP/IP and Ethernet connection : what I need to do ?
I see that on busybox the GDB Server is not present : I suppose this is the problem , but does anybody has the same problem ? Must I recompile the busybox adding the GDB server ? and if yes, which are the steps to do this ?
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

You have to use gdbserver on target side and gdb on host side.
gdbserver is not in busybox but it is into gdb packsge.

Here we use KaeilOS linux that includes both gdb and gdbserver more many other packages ;-)

I'm using KaeilOS for pm9263 with openembedded linux, I'm building successfully console-image image, now I'm trying to find the gdbserver to run on the target but I can't find the compiled software and rootfs: where is the gdbserver? is already included in the build image if not how I ca do it?
Thanks

Hello,

You will find your image into tmp/deploy/eglibc/images or something like that.

Your package is included into this image but you can also find it into tmp/deploy/eglibc/ipk/armv5te/

Hello Ludovic,
thanks for your suggestion.
I'm looking into the tmp/deploy dirs but I cannot find any reference with GDB and/or GDB server....maybe is not included in the image console-image ?
thanks

Hello Bob,

On the top of my head it is not into this image.

You can create a new image based on this and add the gdb package into the image recipe. If you don't know how to do this, have a look into recipes/images.

I have not checked if it's ok but I think you have another way to do this by doing bitbake gdbserver then you will only have to deploy the package (and maybe some dependency packages before) with opkg.

Regards,

Ludovic
