Hi,

In the AT91SAM9263Ek CE 6.0 BSP document, section 4.7 claims that there is a time bomb inserted in the evaluation BSP to make the device reset every hour. This time bomb can be removed buying the full release of the BSP. Is it still true? I thought the BSP is fully free and open source now?

Many thanks,
Derek

We are evaluating using Windows CE with the '9263 and have the same concern about the time bomb issue. There seems to be conflicting information about the BSP from various sources and we need to understand what the cost is before we can commit.

Do we need to purchase BSP software in order to develop relatively simple applications on the '9263?

Thanks!

The BSP with full source code is available for free. You just need to register and then download from the Windows4Sam at at91.com. The time bomb appears to be for the binary version of BSP and may be just part of the history. Try it out and you will see.

Hello,

I'm having problems with the time bomb. I registered and downloaded the BSP from at91/windows4sam, generated an image from the binary BSP and the device (AT91SAM9263-EK) is resetting every hour! Are you sure you are not experiencing the same problem? I posted a request on this issue on Atmel's support page and I'm waiting for a repply...

As I understand it, the BSP is supplied by TimeSys, not Linux4SAM. You have to register with TimeSys in order to download and I think you only get precompiled code for the EK board. To get source code, you have to pay for their service.

The BSP is developed by Adeneo. They used to distribute the binary BSP for free and request payment for the source code. However, there seems to be new agreement between Atmel and Adeneo and then the BSP source code is free as well. When I downloaded AT91SAM9263EK_CE6.0_Source_v1.3.0B.zip from windows4sam, there are two files in the BSP folder in the zip file: AT91SAM9263EK_BIN_EVAL_CE6_v130.msi and AT91SAM9263EK_SRC_CE6_v130.msi. The latter one has full source code and there is no time bomb in it. I have been testing the latter for 3 weeks and I haven't seen any reset issue.

the BSP download from http://www.at91.com/windows4sam/bin/vie ... eddedCEBSP
is a source code BSP,without time bomb.
The test method:
Compile and download the nb0 into your board, then open an application like Mediaplay, and wait for reset,if there is a time bomb,it will reset per hour.
