hi all,

I had bought an ARM926EJ-S board recently. I would like to build an Embedded device from it using the Win CE operating system. I had read about the Win CE over the microsoft site and thought that would suit me best for my device development.

I had learned that Win CE comes as a plugin for Visual Studio 2005. Yes, i do have an environment setup in VS 2005 in which WinCE5.0 as the OS.

My question is:
How do i connect the board to the system and verify that my code is working ?
What code do i need to put on the board and how do i do it?

Quick reply please
Thank you

Hi,

What is the reference of your microprocessor?
Do you want to use CE 5.0 or CE 6.0?

You can use CE 5.0 only with platform Builder environment not with Visual Studio 2005.

hi adeneo,

The microprocessor is AT91SAM9263. I want to use Win CE 6.0.

I am a newbie to Embedded Systems. During my browsing i found that BSP is required for each Microprocessor.
Can you please help me out with environment setup?

thank you

Hi,

Yo must install the AT91SAM9263EK BSP on your computer. You can download it on the atmel website at
http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/produ ... rt_id=4056

BSPs are delivered with the informations you need.

hi adeneo,

I just wanted to confirm with you one thing. The board which i bought is not from ATMEL company. It is an Evaluation board which was bought from a local company in Bangalore.

Does the software which was downloaded earlier (from atmel site) works for this board also?
ASAP..

Thank you

Hi,

Our BSP is dedicated to AT91SAM9263EK board... If you have another board, you can start with our BSP and adapt it to you hardware specificities.

Regards

hi adeneo,

The dealers had told us that it is an ARM 926EJ-S board and the underlying Microprocessor is AT91SAM9263. Looks like this BSP should work for this board. But, i am not sure about it. Anyway i will try it.

What would be the major changes need to be done in order to get to our h/w specifications?

Here is the link of the site from where we had bought the board.

http://www.innovatesolutions.net/embedded_systems.htm#

The board which we had bought is Innovate ARM926. Please go through the required docs from the site and let me know if the BSP work for this.

Thank you

Hi,

It is not possible for us to know if ATMEL BSP and your platform is fully compatible! One BSP is dedicated to a specific hardware design. If your board is not the same as ATMEL board (Quartz, NAND, RAM...) you could have some problems.

If you want a training session for Wince development and uses contact :

hi adeneo,

Thank you very much for the reply.

I have an OMAP 3530 board with me. I can work on that also. Along with the board they had given us the BSP too. Can you please tell me of how to go about installation of it. Do i need to use eVC++ or VS 2005 of working on the board.

One main thing is, there is not display screen provided for the board.I don't know exactly of how to test the BSP provided for us. Is there any other way of testing the BSP if there is no screen provided.

Thank you

hi adeneo,

I had downloaded the AT91SAM9263EK software from the atmel site. For the Win CE Demo installation it requires a platform builder. I don't know exactly what it is. Can you please tell me about it and what is its use. How do i get it.

Thank you

Hi,

Platform builder is a plugin for Visual Studio to make development for Windows CE.
