Hi - I'm having the darndest problem with SAM-BA and an AT91SAM7X256. I upload my code and then do a "compare sent file with memory" - and I get this error: "Sent file & Memory area content (address: 0x100000, size: 1996 bytes) do not match!". I have the exact same results with both USB and serial. The code won't run, either. Has anybody enountered this before? I had this problem once last week and a reinstall of SAM-BA fixed it. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling the latest version of SAM-BA (V1.8) and it had no effect. I am quickly running out of ideas.

On a side note - I have a SAM-ICE. Can anybody tell me how to use it to load code onto my chip, and then how to tell the chip to boot from flash?

Thanks!

edit: to clarify some things: I can connect just fine with both USB and serial using SAM-BA. I can also seem to read from the memory without any problems. The only problem seems to be when I try to write a bin file to the memory. I have tried this out on two different computers with identical results. Also, I'm currently experimenting around with IAR and a SAM-ICE. I was able to compile a sample IAR project and load it onto the board without problems, so I believe the problem has more to do with SAM-BA. Is it possible that the SAM-BA bootloader got corrupted? Is it possible to rewrite it with the SAM-ICE? Please if anybody has anything to add - please do. I'm really struggling here.

SAM-BA bootloader can't be corrupted since it is located in ROM on the SAM7X !
Set the ERASE pin on your board to be sure that you are booting in ROM and not in Flash

I advise you to update your JLink/SAM-ICE driver, dll and firmware with the last JLinkARM revision : http://www.segger.com/downloads.html

Bye

I have the same problem. I programmed my custom made board using SAM-BA over DBGU via a FTDI USB to Serial converter. SAM-BA always complains that they are not the same.

Not much to go on here, but I'll take a stab.

Flash is sensitive to frequency and voltage during programming. Check the oscillator is the same frequency as an equivalent ATMEL EK board for your part. Check the voltages are in-spec, and not noisy.

Try instead reading back the memory content, and comparing locally with FC /B
Confirm if the data is indeed what you wrote, and if not, if there appear to be any pattern sensitivities or specifics, you can observe from the compare failure.

Try programming via JTAG, either from your IDE/toolchain, or something like JFlash.

Try programming a part on an EK board, rather than the custom one, to confirm all other things are working.

I found a strange problem. No matter what I do to FLASH (write / erase), the contents in flash displayed on top of the SAM-BA GUI window still stay the same.

VDDFLASH is 3.3V and PLLRC has 1n, 10n and 1.5k components connected exactly the same way as the EK board last time I checked.
