Hi,

I have completed some searches on the forum site, but have a few questions which are still unclear.

1. I followed a book i have purchased from Elektor (C-Programming for Embedded Microcontrollers) where i have followed the programming example in chapter 8 which loads a program using SAM-BA and lights the LED periodically.

2. In reading the book after doing this, and the web site, it seems that i have overwritten the boot loader.

3. Hence - does this mean that if i go through the raising TST pin high for 10 seconds (with the PA0, PA1, PA2) all held high, that this WILL NOT ALLOW ANOTHER PROGRAM TO BE LOADED ?

4. As such, how can i return the evaluation kit back to its original state ???

5. What was the original state of the system ????? (was it important???)

As you may have realised i am new to this area - so any guidance gratefully received. Thanks.

Regards,

Richard.

Hi,
perhaps this could help you http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/DevTools/SAM7/Your%20Atmel%20Board%20May%20Not%20Be%20Dead.pdf

the better way to return "return the evaluation kit back to its original state ?" is to hold the -jp28 ERASE- pin during 10 sec - turn the power off before !

if you raise TST pin high for 10 seconds (with the PA0, PA1, PA2) all held high - you load the sambaboot loader at the beggining of the Flash it's usefull if you program th e board with SAMBA through the serial port

here I had regroup all you need to know about SAMBA

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/checkeol/zz2/stage_chine/pdf/SAMBA_Full_Guide.pdf

I hope helping you,
regards Séb.

Hi Sebastien,

Thanks for the reply - the first document explained it fully - hidden ROM on the chip that gets loaded which is the boot loader.

Thanks you very much for this information.

Regards,

Richard.
