| Post subject: | How to write an IAR project with a flash loader like sam-ba? |
We developed a project with using IAR Embedded Workbench Kickstart for ARM microcontrollers. We also use Freertos operating system. After we deliver our board to the customer, they will need to assembly new boards(same board) and ofcourse they need to program the microcontroller. My question is, how can we write the iar project output with the Sam-Ba software? IAR produces two files with extensions of "sim" and "d79". But Sam-ba is asking "bin" file in order to write the flash. Any help or advice will greatly be appreciated. regards |

hello, i would assume that you are using v4.xx of iar workbench. if this is the true then you can activate the generation of an extra output file under the project settings. select linker => extra output => generate extra output file and select the file format. regards gerhard |

Hello Gerhard, Thank you for your reply, I m using version of IAR 4.42A. First I selected the Linker tab in the Project Options window. I selected the Output File/Override default check box and write there rtosdemo.bin. Then I selected Format/Other and stopped there. Which format should I select? I m not sure those previous steps above, is it a right way to produce a bin file. Looking forward to hear you soon. best regards, Burak

Hello Gerhard, I was away from the office and as soon as I returned, try your solution. After trying, I can produce a bin file in the Release directory. Thank you. I connected to my at91sam7x256 dev board with jlink, and using Samba 2.9. I can connect to the board in Sam-ba, then I chose the bin file in Send File section, I think something is written to the flash. then what should I do then, I tried "Boot from Flash", "Enable flash Access" by pressing Execute button, nothing happened? It is nice to hear a solution for this. Edit: I solved the problem, thank you best regards, Gloin |
