We are attempting to trap all up-to-downstream traffic that is available on our USB device port, regardless of the intended receiver (similar to setting up an ethernet port in 'permiscuous mode'), but are baffled as just how to setup the USB device to do this.

Any ideas?

The term you are looking for is promiscuous.

You are trying to build a bus analyzer, to tap the wire traffic. I'm not convinced you can do this with stock hardware. What speeds do you need to support. Have you looked at how the Beagle USB 480 Protocol Analyzer works? My guess is a transceiver and FPGA, and a deep memory buffer.

Under Windows you can get a perspective on the traffic by writing a filter driver.
