Two questions:

1. Will the Atmel software libraries from the older ARM7/9-based MCU's port across to the SAM7S series?

2. When will there be some example code for the USB device port on the SAM7S?

1 - Yes. There will header files and HTML registers description available. And several basics will be ported.
2 - 2 Examples are already available. A very simple USB HID mouse. And a fast serial emulation through USB, allowing up to 1Mbyte/sec transfers.

The USB example code sounds the same as that on the at91rm9200 - is it?

On the forum home page, there is a link to the atmel FTP site. The CDROM is updated with all the SAM7S-related stuff.
Regading the USB, the HID is adapted to run on a SAM7S. The serial has been improved and an application note is available, with a Win driver for your host.

The example code given is for the IAR compiler - do you plan to release any GHS-based examples?

You can ask it the Support Team. Unfortunatly, they cannot port all the examples on all the toolkits, but this will be done depending on the demands. So, do not hesitate, let them know you would like an example on GHS.
