Hi All,
Is it possible to use the SSC port to emulate an SPI port? I am using the SPI port on my SAM7S256 to communicate with an SD Card. I am currently bit-banging an SPI interface to a Nordic nRF24L01 RF chip. My datarate to the RF chip seems to max out at about 250Kbps. The RF data rate is 2Mbps. I need more speed! :D

Unfortunately, the data going over the RF is coming from/going to the SD Card so I don't want to try and multiplex the SPI port between those two devices. One option would be to use the SSC port to talk to the RF chip. From what I have been able to gather, this may not be possible.

I am wondering if anyone has been able to use the SSC port as a SPI port?

Thanks,
kpainter

hello,
why not using the spi for rf chip and sd card?
the at91sam7s supports up to 4 slave (without encoder).

Because that would be extremely complicated for reasons I won't go into. Also, since data is coming off SD Card, can't use RF. When talking to RF, can't use SD Card. Right now, I am doing both simultaneously.

did you ever tried to use the pdc in conjunction with spi?
i would assume that with pdc you will be able to het the 2 mbit datarate to the rf chip even when sd card and rf chip uses spi.

Dear kpainter ,
I am working on a project as my master thesis the first phase of which is having a device driver for nRF24L01 interfaced with AT91SAM7S256 via SPI. My SPI works but Since two weeks back I am stuck on getting work with nRF. I try to use brennen's tutorial1...
could you please help me in this regard?

Hi,

Did you have found how to use the SSC as SPI master ?

I really need to do that also and up to now I did not succes...

I'm using a board based on the Atmel AT91SAM7SE512 (http://www.ethernut.de/en/hardware/eir/index.html).

There is an MMC interface, but the driver is a SPI bit banging implementation and its performances are not high enough for my application.

Since the MMC interface is connected to the ARM SSC pins, it seems that it is possible to use it to drive the MMC in SPI mode. Using the SSC, and DMA, the performances should be large enough for my application.

I'm quite afraid about this other post I found on that forum:
http://www.at91.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... hilit,ssc/

Could you let me know your feedback about your SSC/SPI experience ?

Thanks
Regards

Mathieu
