Besides using an illegal PDF reader/writer which ignores the protection (the stupid Atmel datasheets don't even allow to add remarks or highlight things) there's also a legal way to get an unprotected file. Open it with Adobe Acrobat or reader and print the file using Acrobat Destiller as a PDF file. Ooops, protection is gone and you can add all your remarks, highlight text and copy portions into your design file. Tested with Acrobat 4.0 and 5.0 and works like a champ........
I couldn't get this to work. It craps out with a log update that says it won't print an "encrypted" data sheet.

Still don't understand the reason for protecting the files this way. Maybe they should also make it impossible to print and view without a top secret password. I always thought that datasheets are there to promote a product and enable customers to use it!
If the AT91's and AVR's weren't as good as they are nobody in my company would use them with all the hassle they generate with the paperwork.....

I wanted to quote in a Yahoo group a paragraph that showed there is a prefetch buffer which speeds access times to the Flash. But I can't and I am not going to type all that in myself.
Does anyone from Atmel read these posts??? GET WITH THE PROGRAM AND UNPROTECT YOUR DURN DATASHEETS!!!!!
