I would like to hook up a typical usb flash drive to the SAM3U-EK eval board to read and write files to the drive using IAR USB host. However, the board only has USB type B receptacle. If I get an adapter cable is this possible or does the board have some limitation in this way i.e. it can only be USB slave and not USB host. If there is a limitation, what about the possibility of hooking the type B usb cable to a usb hub. Then connect flash drive to hub. Is that a possibility? Thanks |

The USB port is Device only. There are some ARM Cortex M3 parts from other vendors that have USB-OTG Full speed peripherals. They can act like a limitied host or act like a device. But the SAM3 is device only. The HUB will not work nor will any adapter cables. Why not use the SD card? It is one of the best SD card peripherals I have ever seen in a microcontoller. It would be way faster than USB. |
