Hi,

We are trying to use SAM-BA utility to program the prototype board which is developed based on the AT91SAM9G20-EK board. But the SAM-BA is hanging up frequently when trying to program the proto type board and the OS is crashing. The SAM-BA version 2.10 is installed in XP machine. We would like to get your technical support to resolve this problem. The SAM-BA is working fine with the AT91SAM9G20-EK board.

On connecting to the proto type board using SAM-BA through USB, the SDRAM init success applet print is appearing in the serial debug console. After this SAM-BA main window GUI is not popping-up. If power off the board at this time, XP machine will crash.

Following is the SDRAM configurations in boards.

Proto board AT91SAM9G20-EK Development Board
SDRAM size -32MB 64MB
SDRAM bus width -16bit 32bit
Chipset -MT48LC16M16A Same

Also we have done following changes in the SAM-BA

1) Defined memory size as 32MB in board.h (C:\Program Files\ATMEL Corporation\SAM-BA v2.10\applets\at91lib\boards\at91sam9g20-ek\ board.h)
2) Specified 16 bit memory width in at91sam9g20-ek.tcl file (C:\Program Files\ATMEL Corporation\SAM-BA v2.10\tcl_lib\at91sam9g20-ek\ at91sam9g20-ek.tcl)

Is these changes enough? Any information on why SAM-BA is crashing? Expecting your valuable suggestions to resolve the issue.

Hi All,

We observed so many instablity while using SAM-BA with usb interface of target boards like OS crashing and SAM-BA hang-up.

For time being we are using SAM-BA GUI with J-Link interface. This seems to be more reliable. Hope this info will be useful who are getting trouble with SAM-BA and its USB connectivity to board.

Regards,
Bijesh V.M.
