Hi All

I'm VERY new to ARM etc. and just received my new AT91RM9200-EK. I'm having wierd problems that I'll list below and I'll appreciate if anyone can offer assistance.
...
Having tried 3 different serial cables: supplied cable, own nullmodem and a 3-wire, I still seem to get garbage characters on the terminal from the serial debug port. I hit reset and sometimes the board appears fine othertimes characters are missing. this seems to happen only with hyperterminal as SimpleTerm does not give the same trouble but it does not support xmodem & kermit transfer. Now this does not bother me too much but I'll have to find another terminal prog, however, if any advice can be offered it'll be appreciated. afaik the comm port is fine.
...
I received 3 dataflash cards with the ek, Windows CE 5.0, Open PDA V2.0 & Green Hills DEMO. All appear to boot fine except the WinCE which sometimes tries to start up as the docs say but mostly not at all. SimpleTerm shows garbage during the startup but hyperterminal acts DUMB, now is this an MS problem, a card problem or a board problem? Any advice.

Any clues as to the whereabouts of the docs for Open PDA??? or am I blind??

PS. I used hyperterminal to relaod the WinCE image on the mmc which seemed to work fine so I'm a little confused that some actions appear to work fine but others not.

I was able to configure, install via tftp and run linux with no apparent problems but I would like to see WinCE in action.

so.. I'm wondering, is this going to be another Linux, Microsoft showdown?

PS. USB mouse & keyboard & SVGA monitor connected troughout.

Finally... am I sitting with a dud ek that cost a fortune or is it not that bad?

Thanks in advance from a newbie... and please excuse my bantering, just frustrated!

Regards

Jacques

Hi,

I advise you to recover the WinCE demo on the dataflash card using the step by step procedure available on www.at91.com, section Getting Started->RM9200-EK, Dataflash Card demo, WinCE demo and Recovery...

Then, WinCE should boot correctly.

Hi JP

Thanks for the advice, but I tried this already - no success.

Any further advice?
