It is a socket modem which inserts into a DIP socket - I think it costs about $45 and has the SAM7X and most of the signals which are needed for evaluation and many designs. It has also JTAG (connector has to be inserted yourself though) so works fine for developing with.
It operates using the uTasker operating system with integrated TCP/IP stack. This is also free for educational and hobby work (including email support). The uTasker includes a unique real time SAM7X simulator allowing complete development and testing of SAM7X based IP projects (the device in the link was developed with the simulator!!) before final testing on the target.
