hi

I've just got the AT91SAM9261 EK board, and event though I'm new to ARM, and WinCE, I tried to follow the SAM9261-EK WinCE DEMO pages that was included on the DVD.

I’ve connected a USB cable to the PC, installed SAM BA 1.8
Removed the J21 jumper, power on, start the SAM BA, COM1, AT91SAM9261-EK and press the <USB connection> button, jumper in 1-2 position on J21. I then select the “DataFlash AT45DB/DCB” tab. Choose “Init & Select AT45 Dataflash Card on CS0” ( missing a DCB after the AT45 according to documentation. ), press <Execute> but gets an error

loading history file ... 0 events added
SAM-BA console display active (Tcl8.4.9 / Tk8.4.9)
() 1 %
() 1 % eval DATAFLASH::SelectDataflash AT91C_SPI0_CS0
-I- Init SPI0 for DataFlash interfaces
-I- Configure SPI0 PIOs
-I- Enable PMC for SPI0
-I- Reset the SPI0
-I- Configure SPI0 in Master Mode (no CS selected)
-I- Configure SPI0 CS0 for DataFlash AT45
-I- Disable the RX and TX PDC transfer requests
-I- Reset all Counter register Next buffer first
-I- Enable the RX and TX PDC transfer requests
-I- End of Init_DataFlash
-I- Switch to the correct PCS of SPI0 Mode Register (Fixed Peripheral Selected)
-I- Chip Select 0 Selected
-I- Enable the SPI0
-I- Wait for dataflash ready (bit7 of the status register)
-E- DataFlash Not Detected

If I insert a DataFlash card, and set the jumper in position 2-3, every thing is fine… What am I doing wrong? Any one how can help me with just a small suggestion?

New Dataflash - not wrong.

Some clarifications from Atmel below.

1) Wrong NAND Installed. (K9F1208U0B-PCB0, 512M bits, 8 bit bus instead of K9F2G08U0A-PCB0T, 2G bits, 8 bit bus)
All boards in stock are being RMAed to be corrected. Customers do not have to return boards if already delivered, and if the 512MBit NAND is OK for them. SAMBA V1.11 does not work with this NAND, but a new version of SAMBA, V2.0, is expected to be released by Sept 20th. Future kit deliveries will have the correct 2GBit device installed

2) Dataflash Change (AT45DB321C-CNC: 0.18um, 32Mbit, com temp to
AT45DB642D-CNU: 0.13um, 64Mbit, ind temp)
This change is permanent. It causes a problem for current WinCE and Linux boot. Atmel is working to fix Linux dataflash boot, and Adeneo is working to fix WinCE boot issues, by end of this week.
