Hi.

I am going to advance from Atmel 8bit AVR to AT91SAM ( 7 and maybe 9).
I do not have any hardware yet, so I googled a little...

on www.olimex.com, there is an Atmel AT91SAM7S256 development board ( 60€, ~90$), and a Wiggler for 20€ ( ~30$). Olimex just provides links to open source projects withouut mentioning any other IDEs.

I lended the hardware from a friend and had some problems to get my tiny "blink-led" application work. So my question: Which development environment is best suited for a hobbiest? Which tools do you use? Does anybody know a development kit less expensive or equal in price but with more functions?

PS: Compiling with YAGARTO / OpenOCD works well. Just downloading and debugging with arm-elf-insight seems to have hiccoughts sometimes. Is there any (freeware) tool which is more reliable? One which can show hardware register?

Dirk
