Hi all,

I have a SAM9XE-EK that I want to use with IAR and a J-Link JTAG interface. The default EK settings do not seem to work for the J-Link so I want to reconfigure the jumpers and switches.

In the manual I find:

=====
Switch - default setting - description
^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^
S1 - Opened - Disables the ICE NTRST input
S2 - Opened - Selects ICE mode or JTAG mode
S3 - Opened - Disables TCK <-> RTCK local loop.
If S3 is closed, R13 must be unsoldered.
R13 - Soldered - Enables the ICE RTCK return. S3 must be opened
R14 - Soldered - Enables the ICE NRST input
=====

So I know I have to set S2 correctly to get JTAG mode and I know the default for S2 is open, but the manual does NOT say if S2 has to be open or closed for JTAG mode. Is open JTAG mode or ICE mode?

Does anybody know? How do I have to set the other switches?

It would be really great if the manual was more helpful.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what your experience has been, but I'm able to use J-Link with the AT91SAM9XE-EK so long as I load code into SRAM or SDRAM. Attempting to load code into Flash locks up Embedded Workbench.

I use:
IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM v5.20
J-Link-ARM

The 9XE datasheet says that JTAGSEL should be pulled high for JTAG functionality (section 12.5.2) thus suggesting that S2 should be soldered. When I do so, however, EWARM complains that it's having problems with RTCK. I haven't tried closing the local look between TCK and RTCK yet.

Let me know if anyone has an update to this problem.
