Hi,

an evaluation board allows you to quickly evaluate the microcontroller. With an evaluation board, you should be able to exercise the ARM processor and his peripherals as well. The eval board features all necessary hardware and software around the device.
Sometimes, the evaluation board schematics are used as reference for real application because Atmel provides all schematics of their eval board.
The main differences is that not all peripherals connectors are available but anyway there is always extension connector.
