I searched atmel.com as well as here on at91.com but I cannot find the USB driver installer anywhere.

Where on earth am I supposed to download it from?
It was emailed to me once because we could not find it but now I need it again urgently.

Preferebly in an installer form.

Regards
Bernt

The driver is automatically installed when you plug an Atmel EK board to your PC through USB. There is no installer form available.

Hallo and thank you.

Unfortunately you are not correct.
The driver installs automatically ONLY if you already had it installed before.
We have tested this on a virgin / clean PC and it does not find the driver.
The driver has to be supplied by Atmel but I cannot find it anywhere.

If you go ahead and let your PC search for the driver, your board will get detected as some sort of camera. I found an ATMEL app note about this problem but I did not find the correct driver installer.

BTW this forum seems really dead.

hello,
enclosed you can find the .inf file.

this .inf file uses usbser.sys, which should be included in your windows installation.

Hello,
Thanks for this.
I have done a whole number of posts to this forum in an attempt to make is less dead but but never had mauch reply. Thanks for you effort.

I will try this but it is different to what I have on the existing previous installation.
The original has ATM6124.inf and it uses ATM6124.sys.

If yours works I 'll use it. Where did it come from?

Regards
Bernt

Do you mean that a camera is detected instead of the board when you connect the board to your PC?
Which product are you using? Do you use an Atmel EK or a custom board?

obviously you are using some old usb examples. in this examples 2 .inf files where included.
one was using usbser.sys (that one I attached in my last post).
The other one used atm6124.sys, a driver coming from atmel.

Yes, a camera is detected and installed whn the correct driver is not at hand and widows finds its own. I have only seen this once so far but it did happen. AT91SAM7S64.

It is on one of our own boeards but with the ATMEL SAM-BA loader in the chip. In other words it is the same as your EK boards.

This problem is known and I stumbled across an app note from Atmel on how to fix this problem with the exact camera being detected.

@ATMEL
We need the correct drivers for loading production quantities of chips with firmware as we use SAM-BA for this in our factory as well as for field upgrades.

I therefore expect the driver to be available via a proper download link
and not hidden in some example project in an obscure zip file.

Please let mme know the OFFICIAL link for this driver.

@gerhard, thank you for helping me out.

Regards
Bernt

Hello Berntd,

Thanks for your answer. If I understand well the problem you describe it could be related to a known issue.
One of o customer in China is using the same USB vendor ID and product ID so there is a conflict.
Hereafter are the steps to follow in order to prevent that:
- search "GPS Camera" string in the c:/windows/inf" directory.
- you should find a oemxxxx.inf file where xxx is a number. This file should start as follow:

;
; WPUSBSERIAL.INF (for Windows 2000)
;
; Copyright (c) 2000, WondeProud Technology Inc.

- Open "device manager" in Control Panel ->System-> Hardware tab
- plug the EK on your PC
- In peripherals "Ports (COM and LPT)" you should have an entry "GPS Camera (COMxxx)".
- Right click on it and uninstall the driver
- The peripheral should be removed.
- Delete the oemxxx.inf file you've found previously
- Disconnect the EK and reconnect it
- The setup wizard should appear
- Select the 3rd option "not this time"
- in the next screen select "install the software automatically"
- The wizard should suggest the atm6124 driver.

Finally you should find the atm6124.inf file in windows/inf directory.

As there is no official download link (because the inf file should be automatically installed) you will find the .inf file attached in case of (just unzip it).

hope this help
