Yes, a camera is detected and installed whn the correct driver is not at hand and widows finds its own. I have only seen this once so far but it did happen. AT91SAM7S64.
It is on one of our own boeards but with the ATMEL SAM-BA loader in the chip. In other words it is the same as your EK boards.
This problem is known and I stumbled across an app note from Atmel on how to fix this problem with the exact camera being detected.

We need the correct drivers for loading production quantities of chips with firmware as we use SAM-BA for this in our factory as well as for field upgrades.
I therefore expect the driver to be available via a proper download link
and not hidden in some example project in an obscure zip file.
Please let mme know the OFFICIAL link for this driver.
