I'm new here, so bear with me.

My 9200-EK board boots to a uboot prompt. Now I want to erase the boot image:
    Uboot> protect off 10000000 10005fff
    Unprotect 3 sectors
    Uboot> erase 10000000 10005fff
Erase Flash from 0x10000000 to 0x10005fff...
    Erasing sector 0 ... ok.
    Erasing sector 1 ... ok.
    Erasing sector 2 ... ok.
    done.
    Erased 3 sectors.
Now if I reboot, the EK boots up just as before. How can this be??? If I erased the boot image in flash, how is it booting?

Also, I am unable to save uboot environment variable to flash:
    Uboot>setenv ethaddr 12:34:56:78:99:aa
    Uboot>saveenv
    Saving Environment to Flash...
    Un-Protected 1 sectors
    Erasing Flash...Erasing sector 7...Erased 1 sectors

After I reboot, the ethaddr is gone. It has not saved the environment

Is there a hardware writeprotect I don't know about???

- Joe

Hi,

this is a known problem. You need to upgrade the U-Boot version on your EK. I advise you to contact the at91 support line at at91support@atmel.com, they will give you the complete procedure to do this.

Thanks. I found your earlier post with the URL:

ftp://at91dist:distrib@81.80.104.162/Evaluation%20and%20Development%20Boards/AT91RM9200_EK/UBootRecoveryFiles/

Where is the source for this -EK version? Is it just a matter of using the 1.1.1 uboot source and following the instructions for the DK board?

Thanks,

- Joe
