I'm concerned about investing time in evaluating Atmel products (e.g. the new SAM3).

The support documents (application notes, etc.) appear out of date (the USB framework PDF for example).

I know that Atmel is closing (has closed) several of its fabs in Europe and it seems that a lot of the customer technical support comes from here.

Wikipedia mentions that the Rousset site has been on strike for months.

Does anybody (employee/customer) have any comment on this? What are your thoughts?

Yes, we have a serious crisis of atmel products here in Asian region. They suddenly stopped a popular microcontroller (ATMega without any notice. We have invested years of time to learn MEGA AVR uc's. I have no idea about their policy.
