Hello,

I’m trying to boot the AT91SAM9G20 from SDCARD.

When I read the AT91SAM9G20-spec’s there should be a file “boot.bin” located into the root of a FAT/12/16/32 formated card.
The AT91SAM9G20 should boot this file if no other valid boot sequence is found. (ref to DATASHEETS/MANUALS for details)

I can not get this to work, is there someone that can help me a little further?
Someone out there that al ready succeeded in booting ‘a’ ATSAM9G20 bootstrap from SDCARD?

(The same board is booting from NAND if it's programmed correctly (or NFS) ,.. and .. the SDCard interface is working while linux is running, so I assume the hardware should be ok.)

Kind regards,
Noel

Hi there,

We have just encountered the same problem. Have you made any headway on this?

We have proven it can boot from NAND and load the application from NAND. We can also boot from NAND and load the application from SD Card. But booting straight from the SD Card does not work.

Any idea what the ROM loader is looking for? We have the boot file named "boot.bin" in the root directory of a FAT formatted SD Card.....

Cheers
Carl.

Hi all,

Managed to get the AT91SAM9G20 booting from SD.
BUT, had to redesign the board. the SDC-interface that allows you to boot is the SDC-interface A (and not the B one). { so eval board will not be able to boot form SD }

Regards Noel.

Looks like the original EK board only had one SD card slot and was set up to boot from a DataFlash card, which uses the B interface . The latest version of the 9G20-EK board actually has 2 SD card interfaces and specifically marks the A card as the SD card boot slot.

I'm having the similar issues with a custom 9g20 board that has both SD interfaces.

I have a 9G20-EK (Rev. B - single SD connector connected to SPIO_NPCS0) that will boot from a 2MB dataflash card (only the bootloader is on the dataflash). Connecting the EK board to SAM-BA, it will recognize and program the card.

The custom board will not boot with the same card in either interface and, when connected to SAM-BA, SAM-BA will not recognize the card in either slot.

The custom board will read and write to a SD card for either interface in Linux so I believe the connections are OK.

The custom board is "roughly" based on the 9G20-EK board with the SD interface connections the same between the two.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Regards
Mike
