Hello,
I want to compile my own kernel for a GE863-pro cube (AT91SAM9260).

I think the Telit module is based on then AT91SAM9260-EK.

I have compiled the the 2.6.30 Kernel, but on booting it hangs up. The root device (my SD-Card) was mounted.

mmc0: host does not support reading read-only switch. assuming write-enable.
mmc0: new SD card at address 0007
mmcblk0: mmc0:0007 SD02G 1.90 GiB
mmcblk0: p1
EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) on device 179:1.
Freeing init memory: 108K
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

Can anybody help me?

Hi sam-dev

Did you build that kernel using buildroot?

I have the same module and have tried building various kernel versions using buildroot....I also tried adding Telit's config to my build root.....I keep getting the same results.....garbage :)

I have the same effect with AT91SAM9260-EK as well as with custom board.

I found that using older gcc (4.3.5) with the latest buildroot-2011.02 I have a working system. Any newer gcc (4.4.5 or 4.5.2) exposes different effects from hanging on boot kernel (gcc 4.4.x) to similar backtrace dump (gcc 4.5.2).

At the same time I know that older buildroot with gcc 4.4.2 worked fine.

I am going to look into this, but you can at least try the gcc 4.3.5, it works for me.

Hi,

I've successfully build new kernel for the PRO3 with buildroot 2010.02 and kernel 2.6.30.
First I have patched the vanilla kernel with AT91 patch set (that why I used the 2.6.30 and not later version). Then I have port the changes made by Telit in the kernel files (from their download zone). I've patched 3 files :
- board-sam9260ek.c
- at91sam9260_devices.c
- at91sam9260.c

I've also configurated uboot to use tftp and NFS to remotly boot. MUCH more easy to test/retry linux conf.

Hope that help,
Enjoy,
