Hi,

We bought olimex SAM9-L9260 board. Board is up and running with EABI kernel built using the default L9260 configuration.

We get the following output for the dmesg.

dmesg | grep tty

Kernel command line: mem=64M console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock1 rw rootfstype=jffs2
console [ttyS0] enabled
atmel_usart.0: ttyS0 at MMIO 0xfefff200 (irq = 1) is a ATMEL_SERIAL
atmel_usart.1: ttyS1 at MMIO 0xfffb0000 (irq = 6) is a ATMEL_SERIAL
atmel_usart.2: ttyS2 at MMIO 0xfffb4000 (irq = 7) is a ATMEL_SERIAL

When we tried to use ttyS1, we are not getting any output.

echo "hello" > /dev/ttyS1

Basically, we connected RS232 extention to UEXT points available in the board
and trying to view the outcome from PC. Tried to perform the same with /dev/ttyS0
with no success.

Do we need to enable anything specifically in the kernel?

Has anybody used UEXT extentions available in SAM9-L9260 with any success? Please advice.

We are in a urgent need of help in this regard.

Thanks and Regards,
Shafi

Hi,
I too have the same problem.
The development of my application requires additional RS232 serial interface; originally the board has only one serial port that is used for the console.
You have solved the problem?
Thanks in advance,

I believe your problem is you are trying to drive a RS232 interface with a digital signal. You need RS232 drivers between the 9260 pins and the RS232 port. Something like this:
