Standard SPI and 3 wire SPI

I need to interface a single channel ADC to the SPI interface on the board I have. The problem is that the ADC (LTC1864) has a 3 wire SPI interface ( MOSI is not used).
I tried to send a dummy command and read what came from the ADC, but I could not get any meaningful data.

Has someone tried to use a standard SPI interface to command a 3 wire SPI slave?
