I am doing a custom at91sam9g20 board and can't seem to find the NAND part that is on the development board - K9F2G08U0A. I have checked Digikey, Arrow, Mouser and even used Findchips.com but nothing. So what are people using???

Thanks

They become obsolete quickly as die shrinks, and density changes occur.

Micron ones work fine, you'll need to update the nand_ids.h in AT91BootStrap to reflect your part selection.

Unfortunately Micron recently did a die shrink on the 29F2G08ABAEA and now requires a 4 bit ECC. So be careful what version of Micron chip you get. The latest Samsung part is K9F2G08U0C and should still work. You might have to try distributors like Arrow, Avnet, or Future though.

Thanks

I guess i will use micron MT29F4G08ABADAWP which is 512MB x 8 part.
thanks

Well you're clearly going to have to watch the footprint and specs, as part of you own due diligence.

What size do you actually need?

MT29F1G08ABADAH4 (1 Gb)

If you boot from data flash, SD/MMC devices are worth considering for mass-storage, and future-proofing.

I should be able to boot everyting from SDcard, correct? An not need NAND or Dataflash.
That will be my fallback plan in case nand flash turns out to be more expensive then SDcard.

Thanks

The 9260 for which I have an EK board, will NOT boot from SD/MMC.

The 9G45 should boot from these cards.

The 9G20 I really can't say one way or the other authoritatively, as don't have a board with a card slot, and I'm not strongly inclined to attach one. If you have a 9G20-EK as a reference, I'd strongly recommend validating that it will boot from one.
