We have a 9261 board we've built for years. We just started using the B revision Die. When we power up, I get unrecognized device on the PC and Samba does not find th eSUB version. If I go to device manager and look at the USB port with a problem, the PID and VID are both 0.

I am using Samba 2.11 with the latest drivers. BMS=1 and there is no programmed SPI flash attached.

Anyone else having problems withthe B die?

If you connect up the serial port to a terminal (115200 8N1) do you see any of the RomBOOT, or SAM-BA diagnostic messages?

Can you connect via JTAG using the SAM-ICE/J-LINK, either with SAM-BA or more directly with the jlink.exe utility?

Sorry I wasn't clear.

We can connect to Samba via RS-232, program the device and then it appears to be fully functional. The only problem is connecting the rev B die to Samba via USB.

With the same computer and setup, we can connect the same board with a rev A device via USB but not B. We've tried this on 6 chips and they all work the same.

This happens with multiple computers and with Samba V2.8 and V2.11.

A little more information.

The PC does recognize that an ATMEL device has been connected via USB and when we try to start Samba that's when the problem occurs.

With 2.08 we get a message after a few seconds that indicates that no valid processor ID was found. On 2.11 it just never does anything and does not bring up the main screen.

Definitely sounds like something you want to be discussing with your local ATMEL rep or FAE.
