Hello.

I have a Artila m501 (At91rm9200). The problem is that i want to use buildroot(latest) for this card but i'm getting troubles with the filesystem.

I'm using Artilas U-boot (Based on 1.1.5) to boot the card. The buildroot kernel works fine with the rootfs provided by Artila but when i change to the buildroot rootfs i get

M501 booting......Bad magic number.

Could it be a diffrent crc calculation for the u-boot 1.2.0? Or something else?
The reason i don't use buildroot u-boot is that i have add support for my flash(Intel stratachip p30).

Regards / Hans

Update...

I had to use mkimage on the ramdisk to get it to work.

Hi supertuffe:

In this moment I have the same problem:
"Starting M501......... Bad magic number"

I made the the linux kernel compilation in this steps:

1. I modified the Makefile file:
ARCH ?= arm
CROSS_COMPILE ?=arm-linux-

2. I cleaned the temporal files
make mrproper
make clean

3. I loaded M501 config file
make M501_defconfig

4. I cheked the last step with menuconfig option
make menuconfig

5. I compiled with uImage option
make uImage

6. I uploaded this file at M501-SOM using M501- Starter Kit

When I tried this changes in the M501, I can't running the new linux kernel, Just I see:
"Starting M501......... Bad magic number"

Can you explain to me how you can to solve this error?

I appreciate your answer

He posted once, nearly 4 years ago, with a solution "I had to use mkimage on the ramdisk to get it to work.", not sure you're going to get lucky here.

Suggest you look at the binary you created, and what magic numbers uBoot/whatever are looking for, and how that contrasts to the stock binary.

Thanks for your reply.

I could solve my problem. I downloaded the Kernel and Filesys from the ARTILA website

http://www.artila.com/support.html

And then I uploaded to my target via serial port ( I don't know why, if I use FTP the procedure don't works).

I'm very happy because finally I could do to run the kernel linux in the target again, but I want to learn how to create the Filesystem from my target ( M-501, with AT91RM9200 ARM processor and 64 MB SDRAM ).

I'm looking for "I had to use mkimage on the ramdisk to get it to work" but I can't found something usefull for me.

Do you know where I can to found some instructions or a manual that explain how to create the Filesystem?

Thanks.
