Hello All,

I need to debug WINCE image NK.bin using SAMBA, does anyone know how can I use SAMBA for debugging purposes?

Thanks,

Hi,

SAM-BA is not a debugging tool. It's goal is only programming.
You need to use Visual Studio 2005 for debugging the kernel and the drivers or a JTAG probe with a debugger tool to debug the bootloaders.

Thanks for your reply.

I was wondering if you could suggest a JTAG debugger to debug the Kernel. We are using AT91SAM9260 and it seems to crash while initializing the Kernel.
Reducing down the Core frequency from 200Mhz to 180Mhz seems to make the image work (probably some timing issue), any suggestions?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

You can use SAM-ICE from ATMEL or RealView from Arm.

For the frequency issue, it happens on eval board (EK) or on your own board?

Hello,

We are using AT91SAM9260 on our board with WINCE i.e. we use MS Visual Studio. I could not find any info to use SAM-ICE with MS Visual Studio...? Can RealView be used for ATMEL?

Frequency issue is happening on our board...please let me know if there is anything I could try...

Thanks,
-Puneet

Hi,

Unfortunately, SAM-ICE is not compatible with VS.
To use a probe in VS, it must be compliant with EXDI2 like the RealView, but it is not easy to be used...

For your frequency issue, you can look at the RAM/Flash timings.

Thanks for your reply.

Changing DRAM settings did not seem to make any difference.

Can SAM-BA be used to debug Linux kernel?

Thanks,
-Puneet

HI,

I don't know if SAM-BA can be used as a debugger on Linux (I don't think so).
