Hi every one!
I am new in arm and AT91 family. To start working with, I bought an AT91SAM7S64 and assembled according to many board schematics.
After connecting to USB port, windows shows "unknown usb device" and sam-ba doesn't show any USB programming on its menu.
What must be happened after connecting AT91sam7 to USB port?
Thanks for your attention.

may be you need to erase flash then reboot to start with SAMBA loader ?

hello,
at the sam7s you have to activate sam-ba.
take a look at the datasheet, chapter "SAM-BA Boot Assistant".

I read the SAM-BA Boot Assistant in datasheet. It says I should use crystal 18.432 MHz and also pull up Test, PA0, PA1, PA2 pins for 10 seconds. After these, power restarting.
Are those correct?

Hello!

This is my first post soo warn me if i do anything wrong. I am a newbie at embedded programming and i bought myself AT91SAM7S-EK kit with AT91SAM7S256 microcontroller.

I did put on the TST jumper, powered ON my kit for 10s by plugging in a USB cable, then i powered it OFF, removed TST pin and powered it ON again. So my PC recognizes it and so does SAM-BA (v2.10), but it recognizes it as COM5 (picture 2) instead of USB and when i click "confirm" button nothing happens although in instructions it says i should get a secondary screen. I checked in task manager and i can see a process "sam-ba_cdc.exe" running. When i checked device manager i found that my device is listed under section "ports (COM & LPT)" instead in Universal Serial Bus controllers" (picture 1).

Soo what can i do? I really want to be able to upload my .bin files via USB.

SAM-BA is not very nice with COM ports
If it can't open the given COM, it stops without a message
In your screenshots, I can see that your USB-COM is 6 and that you ask SAM-BA to open COM5...
Retry with COM6
What is your OS ?

Oh no no that is just a mistake, i tried all of my laptop USB plugs which were recognized as a COM5, COM6 and COM9... I always chose the appropirate name in SAM-BA afterwards, so that is not the problem. I am using Windows 7 32bit. I thnik my device should be listed under USB section of device manager...
