How to check DDR3/LPDDR2 (stress test)

Tue Jul 11, 2017 1:39 pm

Hi
We have got sama5d2-XULT board from Atmel and same board customized as well (made by another manufacturer). We tried booting the both boards through serial flash and SD card.

SAMA5D2-XULT board works find every time but other board is working some times and some times it doesn't work

Now we would like check the DDR3 in the board.

How we can test the memory with out booting. are there any tools like DDR stress tester etc...

You are going to have to boot something, but not necessarily an operating system.
You can try to adapt the memtest routines in U-Boot.
There's more comprehensive tests in Memtest86, but that code would have to be revised to account for ARM's addressing restrictions.
You could also review the app note Implementation of SDRAM on SAMA5D2x Devices.

but before booting to uboot, any tool is available. earlier we worked on nxp/freescale which has memory stress test tool which is used for confirmation of memory connections as well as memory evaluation.
like that any tool available.
