Help in starting using Windows CE on Atmel AT91SAM9261-EK

Mon Sep 27, 2010 12:14 pm

Hi all,

our company is just starting the development of software based on WinCE on a AT91SAM9261-EK board. Once the software will be developed, our customer will pay royalties to Microsoft for each product sold.

We already saw that we have two options: use the free BSP made available by Adeneo on this website, or use the commercial version (by Adeneo as well).

In any case, we are not able of understanding if we have to buy some additional tool/package over the BSP: our company is specialized on Embedded Linux, and we don't have any past experience about WinCE.

Can you please help us by answering the following questions ?

1. I guess we need a Visual Studio development platform. Can we use "Visual Studio 2008 Standard" that we already have ? Or do we need a different version ?

2. Do we also need the "Microsoft Platform Builder" package ? If so, is it a free or a commercial package ?

3. Do we have to also buy a development license of Windows CE ? Or is the Windows CE code already included inside the BSP ?

Any help is welcome. Many thanks.

Hi cybercloud,

Please take a look at the http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows ... 30617.aspx web page. It gives all needed information and allow you to download trial versions.

HTH,

If this answer solves your problem, please edit the subject of this post by adding [Solved] at the beginning of the subject.
