device not found/ device id for AT91SAM7S256-EK

Thu Jun 26, 2008 12:11 am

when i first used sam-ba v2,7 it worked ok but kind of buggy. Now I get this error saying "no valid processor id found". I heard this error can be attributed to a wrong device id value in the devices.tcl file. Is there any way to find out what this value should be?

thanks
chris!

Hello I have the same problem. Do you use DBGU or USART or sth like that? i am begginer in ARM so.. i haven't bought JTAG ( USB ) programmer yet..and i have only RS232.

I have MMsam7s ver1. where i do TST jumper by myself ;)

Hi I encounter the same problem
my card is an AT91SAM7S256-EK REV A3 12
SAMBA 2.8
SAMBA work nice with the J-link and the USB but I need to make it works on RS232

In my devices.tcl
I have 0x270D0940 AT91SAM7S256 <- according to the errata file
0x270B0940 AT91SAM7S256

And with my serial connection I block on the error message "No valid ID processor Found" !
I had
-erase the card with the erase jumper
-use the TST jumper to load the samba boot from the ROM to the Flash

I connect my RS232 wire on the DGBU port (I think it the good port) (I sure it's the good port)
but I try on the UART (it's the same result)
I assume my RS232 wire is ok, I have a little "Hello World" program which is able to write from the card to a windows terminal.

When I connect with the j-link, I unlocked all the part of the memory.

If you have any idea.

On my card I have the jumpers
13
14
20
21
22
23
which are active when I try the TST reset .
(but it's normal)

I think with this protocol I load the bootloader from the ROM to the Flash because after
closed the TST during 10 sec - The usb driver of the card is activate - when I press the reset button of the card I hear the MS Vista sound of unplug / plug device -

But I always come up against the "No valid ID processor Found" of the samba lunch when I try to connect it through the RS232.

If someone see that's I'm doing wrong.

The usb connector must be unplugged - and it's necessary to power the card through a power adaptor

Return to “SAM-BA”
