16-bit nand flash boot

Wed Feb 12, 2014 1:16 pm

Hi!

Has anyone produced or know if it is possible to create a workaround to be able to boot at91 bootstrap, u-boot and so on with a 16-bit nand flash as the only boot media?

You could use a small SPI Flash to hold the bootstrap. Once the bootstrap with 16 bit NAND support is loaded, the rest could be loaded from the NAND. You should very rarely have to update the SPI Flash in the field, so this may be the least expensive alternative.
