Make the SAMA5D3 board support MY-CAM001U camera module

Wed Jul 13, 2016 11:41 am

In order to make MYIR's SAMA5D3 board MYD-SAMA5D3X support its MY-CAM001U camera module, we can modify the Linux kernel. The MY-CAM001U is a UVC camera module, so we need to add UVC support in kernel configuration:

1
2
3
4
5
6
Device Drivers --->
<*> Multimedia support --->
[*] Video capture adapters --->
[*] V4L USB devices --->
<*> USB Video Class (UVC)
[*] UVC input events device support

After modification, recompile and download it onto the board, boot the board there will be similar output as below:
1
2
3
usb 1-2: new high speed USB device number 2 using atmel-ehci
uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device USB 2.0 Camera (174f:5a35)
input: USB 2.0 Camera as /devices/platform/atmel-ehci/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0/input/input2

There will be video1 node created under the /dev directory.
