Peripheral power options for SAMA5D3 custom PCB design

Mon Jul 25, 2016 4:19 am

Hello forum,

I am designing a PCB for SAMA5D3 that is small and does not have DDR memory or ethernet or NAND flash. I am wondering if I need to provide power to the parts of the SAMA5D3 chip that I am not using. For example there are five power pins for the DDR memory (VDDIODDR). It would help to simplify the layout if there is no need to connect power to these pins, however, I cannot find documentation to clarify this issue. Of course, it's expensive to make a mistake on the PCB design, so I want to get it right.

Is there any one out there that knows the answer to this question??? or can point me in the right direction ??

Thanks,

Peter

For any one that is interested....

I tested the SAMA5D3Xplained demo board with the power to the DDR2 cut at the JP2 jumper. The board works fine (as long as execution is out of internal SRAM).
