USB under 2.6.12-rc1

Wed Jul 13, 2005 1:34 am

I'm having problems with USB under linux 2.6.12-rc1. I can plug devices in, and the kernel recognises them, but nothing shows up under /dev for them.

Here are the kernel messages when i plug a webcam in:

The same thing happens when i plug a usb flashdrive in, nothing shows up under /dev. When i run the atmel supplied kernel binaries for v 2.4... it works fine, the flash drive is mounted and everything.

Is there something i should be configuring in the kernel?

Thanks,
Layton

I had to set the native lang support NLS in the .config to cp437. Otherwise I was able to mount usb flash and mm adapters.

the scsi mass storage is on and usb mass storage.

for testing i have the psuedo /dev file system turned on.

the thumb drive shows up as a link /dev/disc1

to /dev/scsi i can't remember...

2.6.12.2
